Accessing the website and server log files
Scope and Purpose: When using the website for information purposes only, i.e. when you do not register or transmit other information, we will only collect the personal data that are transmitted by your browser to our server according to the settings made by you (server log files).

The data is used for the technical optimization of the website and to ensure the security of our information technology systems. The IP address is necessary for the operation and delivery of the website. It is written in abbreviated form in the log files, and is no longer available in its entirety after the request. It is not possible for us to draw any direct conclusions about individual persons based on this data. No comparison with other data sets takes place.
If we have concrete evidence of illegal use, we reserve the right to record and store unabbreviated IP addresses.
Recipients: The data is not passed on to third parties.
Legal basis: The legal basis for processing is Art. 6 par. 1 (b), par. 3 (b) GDPR in conjunction with Art. 4 LDSG respectively Art. 20 par. 1 KITG in conjunction with Art. 12 par. 1 LHG.
Duration of storage: Personal data will be stored for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected. The data will be deleted after seven days at the latest.
Cookies
Scope and Purpose: In addition to the above data, cookies will be stored on your computer when using our website. Cookies are small text files stored by the browser you use. From these cookies, we (the server of our website) obtain certain information. We use so-called session cookies (transient cookies) that are technically required to make the website work. The following data is stored and transmitted in the cookies we use:

Legal Basis: The legal basis for the processing of personal data using the technically required cookies in the sense of Article 25, par. 2 of Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG, Telekommunikation-Digitale-Dienste-Datenschutz-Gesetz) is Article 6, par. 1, f GDPR. The above purposes also substantiate the justified legal interest of KIT in data processing according to Article 6, par. 1, f GDPR.
Duration of storage: Cookies will be deleted at the latest when you log out or close the browser.
Hint: You can set your browser such that you will be informed about the setting of cookies and you can permit cookies in individual cases only, exclude the acceptance of cookies in certain cases or in general, and activate automatic deletion of cookies when closing your browser. When deactivating cookies, functionality of this website may be limited.
Contact (email, telephone, form)
Scope and purpose: When you contact us by email, telephone, or via a form, the contact details you provide, such as your email address, telephone number, and, if applicable, your name, will be stored for the purpose of processing and responding to your inquiry.
We would like to point out that data transmission over the Internet (e.g., when communicating by email) may be subject to security vulnerabilities. It is not possible to completely protect data from access by third parties.
Recipients: If necessary to respond to your contact request, personal data may be forwarded to relevant departments within KIT. The respective responsible employees at KIT will use your personal data exclusively for the purpose of processing your request. The data will not be passed on to third parties.
Legal basis: The legal basis for processing is Art. 6 par. 1 (b), par. 3 (b) GDPR in conjunction with Art. 4 LDSG respectively Art. 20 par. 1 KITG in conjunction with Art. 12 par. 1 LHG respectively other applicable legal regulations.
Duration of storage: Personal data will be stored for as long as necessary to fulfill the above-mentioned purpose, i.e., the data will be deleted when it can be assumed that an exchange is no longer desired.
Newsletter
Scope and purpose: We process your personal data from the corresponding form/registration screen for the purpose of sending and managing the newsletter. We use the so-called double opt-in procedure for registration, i.e., your registration is only complete once you have confirmed your registration by clicking on the link contained in a confirmation email sent to you for this purpose. If you do not confirm your registration within 48 hours, your registration will be automatically deleted from our database.
Recipients: The data will not be passed on to third parties.
Legal basis: The legal basis of data processing is Article 6, par. 1, a GDPR (your consent). The consent is voluntary. Consent can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future. Effect for the future means that the withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal. Refusal or withdrawal of your consent will not result in any drawbacks. However, without providing personal data, it is no longer possible for us to send you a newsletter.
Duration of storage: Personal data will be stored for as long as necessary for the above purposes, i.e. we will store the data for as long as consent for this exists.

Encrypted transmission (TLS encryption)
This site uses TLS encryption to protect the transmission of all content, as well as the requests you send to us as the site operator. With TLS encryption, the data you transmit to us cannot usually be read by third parties. As far as your personal data are concerned, you have the following rights:

- Right to confirmation whether data about you are processed and right to information about the data processed and about data processing as well as right to obtain copies of the data (Article 15 GDPR).
- Right to rectification or completion of incorrect or incomplete data (Article 16 GDPR).
- Right to immediate erasure of your personal data (Article 17 GDPR).
- Right to restriction of processing (Article 18 GDPR).
- Right to data portability in a structured, standard, and machine-readable format, if processing is based on a consent according to Article 6, par. 1, sub-par. 1, a or Article 9, par. 2, a or on an agreement according to Article 6, par. 1, sub-par. 1, b (Article 20 GDPR).
- Right to object to the future processing of your personal data, if the data are processed according to Article 6, par. 1, e or f GDPR (Article 21 GDPR).
